Whether you are a solo pianist or a piano accompanist, it is very important that you should play the rhythms smoothly and play the melody evenly. By doing this, it will ensure that you are keeping pace with other musicians and singers, fitting in the musical context appropriately. You can use the metronome to keep you on track from the beginning stage.
2) Understand the Rhythmic and Notation
You have to practice difficult passages slowly at the first stage, to avoid or correct inaccuracies. Take your time; subdivide beats if necessary. Here are a few examples: for the beat in quarter notes, you need eighth notes, multiply the BPM (beat per minute) by 2, (quarter=60 is the same as eighth=120). If you need to play in triplets, so you have to multiply the quarter beat by 3 (quarter=60, triplets=180).
3) Technique is important in your piano lessons
Never forget, you must always remember to slow down your passage when you first start to play a new melody. Always remember you must first walk with confidence, then only start to learn how to run. SLOW down your speed, If you cannot play a fast passage flawlessly. Use a metronome for your daily practice. You can be sure that even a young and inexperienced audience hears the unevenness in tempo.
Try to get a comfortable tempo at which you can play every note correctly (pitch, duration, tonal quality), no matter how slow it is. If you can play the passage without mistakes five times in a row, you can speed up (about 2-4 clicks on the metronome). Increase the tempo gradually, until you reach your goal.
