Bendaroos…Creative Playtime Fun!!

BENDAROOS–AN UNCLE AL REVIEW
For this one, I’ve got to go change into my “Gramps” outfit!
WAX COATED STRINGS
That’s what these things are…brightly colored wax coated strings.  Sort of like art deco pipe cleaners.  Bendaroos are bendable, shapable and used for creative playing or decorating other toys or items.  I like the idea of creativity for the kids.  The kit comes with templates and a play guide for getting the most out of your Bendaroos.
MAYBE YES…
1.  Buy through the site, and get double your Bendaroos
2.  Does not stain or leave a permanent mess like crayons or markers
3.  Safe, fun, easy to use and reusable
4.  Great to take on vacations
5.  Can provide another creative child activity with or without parent involvement
BUT MAYBE NOT….
1.  The wax is sticky and leaves a residue.  This means a confined play area and hand wiping when done.  If this residue gets on carpet or other fabric, it is reported to be difficult to remove. My kids wouldn’t sit and play in one spot for any length of time, so it probably wouldn’t have been for them.
2.  The templates and other activity creating items are great as long as your child is old enough to read and follow directions.  If not, the Bendaroos could very well turn into a parent project.  However, if stay at home parents need something creative to do with their kids, this would be great!
3.  Bendaroos are advertised on the As Seen On TV Store and Amazing Products as being for ages three and over, and I would definitely agree with this.  Although they are advertised as non-toxic, I wouldn’t want my three year old chewing on it or feeding it to the dog.
WELL, DO I BUY IT?
Although my grand kids are too young to enjoy Bendaroos, I give it a qualified yes.  Sounds like something neat for kids to do indoors while enduring another long, cold winter.  (Global warming, anyone?)  The only qualifications I have would be to confine the play area so the sticky wax doesn’t get spread all over the house, and to supervise play with younger kids.  The price isn’t too bad, so it’s a good valuefor money spent if it keeps the kids creatively occupied.

Uncle Al–A little bit of My Story
Since there may be some out there with nothing better to do than to read my product reviews, I thought I might put a little of me out there for all the world to see.
I retired about 16 years ago after practicing a health science profession for 25 years. We used computers for billing only back then. The hardware and software were not reliable enough to use for complex non-retrievable data; crashes were a weekly occurrence and backups were done at least twice daily. So when I retired, I thought my interaction with computers, although indirect, was over. Boy! Was I mistaken! I mean, what’s an old guy gonna do all day? I tried golf…fun but frustrating! Practice does not lead to perfect in that game! So…I reacquainted myself with the computer. Only this time, on a personal level.
Several years ago, I became fascinated with the products and concepts of “As Seen On TV”. After buying a ton of stuff, most of it useful, my wife said I could provide a worthwhile service by reviewing products and letting the world know my opinion via the internet. I think she suggested it just to give me something else to do besides bother her, but I sorta liked the idea and am giving it a try. I hope ya’ll like what I have to say!
